the LEAP Project

About the LEAP Project & Scholarship contest

The LEAP project is an annual competition in which participating LEAP students grades 9-12 choose a topic focused around our yearly theme, and research it extensively. They then present their findings along with actionable ways for the general public to get involved with their chosen issue by building a website, creating a short documentary, or writing a paper relating the yearly theme to animal and environmental welfare. Projects will be evaluated by the LEAP Board of Directors based on rubrics and winners will have the opportunity to earn scholarship money for continuing education.

This process is designed to help students continue to develop and implement leadership skills learned in the LEAP program specifically in the areas of critical thinking, project management, advocacy, and community involvement. It also rewards students who put in time and effort above and beyond the
requirements of the LEAP program and gives them a chance to participate in healthy competition with their peers.
