AT SANCTUARIES
TAKE THE LEAP
The LEAP high school education program aims to prepare teenagers to become leaders in the fields of farmed animal welfare, wildlife and habitat conservation, climate solutions, plant-based lifestyles, and human and animal rights. LEAP combines interactive, collaborative classroom curriculum with hands-on work at sanctuaries, leadership training, and community service opportunities to build thoughtful, altruistic, involved citizens who will make a significant positive impact. Students meet for monthly classroom lessons and interactive workshiops at their LEAP chapter sanctuary and participate in service projects and special events throughout the year.
Leadership Training
Learn important leadership skills like responsibility, teamwork, public speaking, critical thinking, collaboration, relationship-building, and effective communication.
Hands-on Workshops
Work hands-on outdoors with animals, spend time in the kitchen doing plant-based cooking and baking, learn how to advocate for animals, rewild the land, and serve your community.
Engaging Lessons
Listen to lectures, watch documentary clips, read articles, hear from guest speakers, engage in discussions and debates, and learn a myriad of ways to help animals and the planet.
Work with animals ethically.
Unlike traditional agricultural programs, in LEAP, you never have to worry about the animals you work with being sold as commodoties or used for any purpose. Learn about animal autonomy, enrichment, and lifelong care in a place where they will get to grow old as beloved companions.
