LEAP Into Learning!

The LEAP Kids program introduces younger students to the concepts of ethics, leadership, and issues involving animals and the planet in an engaging and age-appropriate way. Students earn badges similar to Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts as they move through lessons, hands-on activities, and service project opportunities at partner sanctuaries that expand their knowledge, develop their leadership skills, and make a positive difference in the world.

Standards-Aligned

The LEAP Kids program is designed following Common Core state standards and supplemented with social/emotional intelligence themes.

Animal Place
Hands-on Learning

Learn outdoors through hands-on animal care workshops, receive advocacy training, and become equipped with plant-based nutrition information and service learning experience.

Unity
Social/Emotional Development

Students who complete a significant portion of the program should have increased confidence, social awareness, enhanced empathy for others, and responsibility for self.

Critter Creek

Kids who care about animals are not “too sensitive.”

Reaching children when they are most impressionable to foster and celebrate kindness, responsibility, and service to others is the foundation of our program. Unlike traditional agricultural programs where students lovingly raise animals only to be expected to send them to market, LEAP promotes long-term bonds with their animal friends who will grow old in sanctuary. Better for mental health and fostering deep inter-species friendship and empathy, LEAP Kids offers a more morally consistent alternative for kind young people.

Making Humane Education Accessible to All

Part of LEAP’s mission as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit is making ethical leadership training and outdoor, hands-on education accessible which is why the program is free to all students at participating sanctuaries across the US and Canada.

“It’s not enough to love animals; we must actively protect and preserve them. It’s our duty and responsibility as custodians of this planet.”
